The Barakat Foundation Scholarships
Grants are made at the discretion of the Academic Advisory Committee of the Barakat Foundation and include:
To selected Muslim scholars who have already been accepted by the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilization.
University of Chicago: One scholarship of $10,000 for the doctoral program in Islamic archeology for the first year of study. Additional funding will be available to the students who have qualified for the discretionary grant during any period of their study to enable participation in archaeological projects appropriate to their individual research programs.
MIT /Barakat Foundation grant: this is a small grant designed to recognize the work of one or two MIT students who are engaged in research on a topic in Islamic architecture. It is merit-based and all MIT graduate students in Islamic architecture are considered for it.
Ameen Rihani Scholarship Program
This scholarship in the amount of $1,500 is awarded each year to a student along with selected books from Ameen Rihani's works. The Arab Star Scholarships
The Arab Star, a Dallas based Arab and Muslim newspaper with an estimated readership of 50,000, is offering two annual scholarships to high school or college students who will major in Journalism. The American Arabic Educational Foundation
The scholarship requires that the applicant be a graduating high school senior or equivalent, planning to enter and academic or vocational school the term following the granting of the scholarship, and that the recipient be a resident of of one of the following California Counties: Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, or Ventura; Be a Citizen or a permanent resident of the United States; and of Arabic heritage. Offers 10-20 scholarships of $1,000 awarded to undergraduates whose families are members of the Federation. A recommendation by a Federation officer is required. The Federation has members in 11 states in the upper Midwest.
