Scholarships for Students with Cystic Fibrosis

 According to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation - Cystic fibrosis is an inh­erited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide). A defective gene and its protein product cause the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that can lead to life-threatening lung infections and effect a person's digestive system.  Such a disease can be not only physically but mentally draining.  To encourage students with Cystic Fibrosis, several organizations have created scholarships.  Below is a discussion of the few of them:

Cystic Fibrosis Scholarship Foundation

CFSF helps young adults with CF to further their education at a college or vocational school through various schoalrship programs. Scholarships are awarded based on educational achievement, leadership, and financial need as submitted by the student in the scholarship application form. 

­SolvayCARES Scholarship

The SolvayCARES Scholarship is to help young adults with cystic fibrosis pursue goals of post-high school education. ­Started by Solvay Pharmaceuticals, the scholarship awards participating students with a $2,500 award. One of these students gets­ the Thriving Student Achiever award of $10,000 in place of the standard $2,500 award. To learn more about the scholarship you can go to the foundation website.
