Scholarships for Animation
Animation which began as an art has turned into a science with new inventions in computing and graphics. Most of the graphics arts schools offer programs in animation as well. There are several scholarships to encourage students get a degree in animation.
Warner Brothers - Hanna-Barbera Scholarship
Warner Bros. Studios offers a scholarship in honor of the late Bill Hanna and Joseph Barbera. Each year, a graduating high school senior enrolling in a college, university or trade school to study animation receives $10,000, disbursed annually in equal amounts over the course of enrollment. In addition to the annual disbursement, the scholarship winner is offered four consecutive, paid summer internships at Warner Bros. Animation in Burbank while in college. Applicants for the The Warner Bros. Hanna-Barbera Animation Scholarship are evaluated on a number of criteria, including their passion
and talent for a career in animation and demonstrated financial need. A
minimum GPA of 3.0 upon graduation is required.
Teletoon Animation Scholarship
The Teletoon Animation Scholarship is awarded to promising Canadian students in animation. There are several categories in which first prize recipients are awarded $3,000; second place receive $2,000; and $1,500 go to the third place finalist. In addition, three filmmakers are awarded the Voter's Choice Award carrying a cash prize of $500. The Voter’s Choice Award was decided by visitors to teletoon.com who selected their favourite cartoon in each category.
Animation Scholarship for Women
In the memory of Women in Animation (WIA) founding member Phyllis Craig, a $1000 scholarship is given to one deserving animation student, along with a one-year membership in Women In Animation. The annual beginning submission date is September 15th. The yearly deadline is April 29th (Phyllis Craig’s birthday) and winners will be notified by July 1st.
Computer Animation Scholarships
Electronic Arts the leading video game maker offers scholarships for computer animations. The recipients –
all graduating seniors are identified based
upon academic excellence, outstanding internship performance, passion
for gaming and financial need. Each student receives a $10,000
tuition scholarship. Scholarships offered by EA:

Art School Scholarships for Animation
Several art schools and art institutes also offer scholarships for animation. You should contact your nearest art school to find out if they offer any animation scholarships.
